Things I find fascinating about America
- Time zones: As someone who has lived all my life in countries with only one time zone, this was quite strange to me. I visited both New York and San Francisco. The fact that they were three hours apart never failed to amaze me. The amazement was even greater when I had to interact with my colleagues back in Accra & Lagos. I'd be jumping into work meetings at 1am in SF, 9am in Lagos. The contrast between our routine (morning (SF) vs early evening (Lagos/Accra)) was endlessly amusing.
- How many traffic lights and well-marked zebra crossing there are.
- I wonder how much that contributes to less motorist accidents
- How do traffic systems work?
- How quiet their cars are — why is that?
- House with name tags like “Roque family “. I want something like that when I start a family
- The concept of paying to park your car
- Street signs, and how we'll they're made
- How there's so much sunlight even by 7pm
- Pavements for walking. So cool.
- Surveillance cameras outside of homes
- Openly advertising about a house being sold
- Trains. So cool.
