One of my favorite things to do is watch people who have been working hard at a pursuit for a long time finally become "overnight successes". In my relatively short life, I've seen this happen with a number of people and it never fails to delight me.
The most recent example is my former coworker Linda having her work featured in Figma's IPO reel. I still remember when she was sharing her early dabblings in iconography, and by continuing to do the work over the years, she's unsurprisingly attained both mastery and the accompanying accolades.
This phenomenon continues to be a reminder to me that there's no such thing as an overnight success. You must do the work—usually without witness or reward—for a long enough time.
